The atmosphere was... not really atmospheric, though I think this was more due to the venue, with us seated way back from the action, rather than a problem with the enthusiasm of the crowd, certainly not in E@L's area. We turned our little spot with the help of some other HK R7s regulars something the purists might call merely the echo of a shadow of a reflection, dancing on the walls of Plato's Cave, while the true South Stand of Hong Kong walked on by outside... It certainly got more and more rowdy as England made it into the finals. However they lost this time, which was good. E@L was heard to shout on occasion, "Anywun but Enga-lund!"
We were still having fun and that's what counts.
Here's E@L flexing his digestive muscles at ya in a complimentary Fosters Lager t-shirt, from the East Stand at the National Stadium on Sunday.
Of course, no Aussie in control of themselves (that's about 70% of the time, on average) would be seen dead drinking Fosters unless two out of the following three criteria are met:
1: It's free
2: It's really chilled
3 (compulsory): There is no other beer within 1km.
On this occasion the T-shirt was free, but the Foster's lager itself met only met criteria 2 and 3. Oh well.
We moved onto red wine at the Elephant Pub.
Sleep well. (Thanks for the photo Val.)
OTHER MONKEYS SAID
If you want groupies you should submit that photo to http://www.bearornot.com/
Then again you probably won't find the sort of groupies that you prefer.
not gonna go with that, Alvin.
Arrgh! Indecent exposure!
It's one of my better snaps in fact...
