Schedule Update - The New Black Is Not the Old Black

For most of July I'm going to be out of town.

I'm going to be in HK for the rest of this week working for a few days (see Spike and a few old work budddies in Wancha no doubt), then a 40th party on Saturday for a friend.

BKK comes up after that for a week, catch up with Mdme Chiang before she blows off to Bali, then 10 days in Phuket.

Back to Singapore for 9 hours, then on the move to Tokyo for a few days (including my first visit to the Tacjiki fish market - paid for by work!) before finally getting back to the newly tidied-up flat, ready for my two new tenants, on July 28th.

So that will be total of three days in Singapore in July.

Finally, just as I'm packing to start this massive trip, we got an email update about dress code for the party in HK...

Initially it was simply "black with a splash of red" for men. I went to M&S yesterday and bought some black linen trousers to match a loose black linen shirt I already had from British India. Cool, semi-casual, tropical and black. The "red splash" was going to be provided by the host... Red wine?

Now, today I get the message - dark/black suit or black dinner jacket (= "black tie")! Fuck, I don't have a dark suit, and I haven't had my tux dry-cleaned for ages, and my fancy white shirt is a mess and I just threw out my old black bow-tie... I'll have to get the suit done at the hotel in HK, costing me a fortune, find a new bow-tie, plus drag the whole kit around Asia for the rest of the month.

However, the 10 days (sounds too much yeah?) in Phuket is going to be a relaxing time. Even though I'm in Patong with a male friend for a few of those days to show him the ropes, it's going to be primarily a restive period, avoiding the touts and just finding my local massage place and chilling. I won't be drinking as I am STILL on the foot pain medication, so I hope to get enough swimming in to lose some weight as well.

For the rest of the time: golf at Blue Canyon, massage, golf again, snorkeling at Phi Phi, lying by the pool, trying to re-establish an interest in sex, maybe some more golf, lots of reading - back to Pynchon methinks, writing, golf again, more sex probably if I find I like it, massage again and again for sure.

And not necessarily in that order...

And I don't think I know anyone more ready for a holiday than me...

Tsukiji not "Tacjiki"

That was a trap I set specially for you! And you fell for it! LOL!

Wait till you see the trap I've set for you once you get to Hong Kong! Hmmm, what was her name again ....

You have to work out if you like sex...

Posted by: Indiana on Jun 30, 08 | 7:24 pm

Spike: destiny awaits...

Indy: been so long since I had sex, I've forgot who wears the BoPeep outfit and who wears the sheepskin.

Posted by: expat@large on Jun 30, 08 | 8:32 pm

The pony wears the sheepskin. You wear the Bo Peep outfit. Remember where to put the cauliflower?

Posted by: spike on Jun 30, 08 | 9:23 pm

And the gentleman with the melon?

Posted by: expat@large on Jun 30, 08 | 9:34 pm

That's no gentleman, that's my wife?

can you send the tux back home via fedex? or to your office? so you don't have to lug it around?

Trying to think of a tasteful tsunami quip. Nothing yet.

Spike: Wife? What sort of goddam commie prevert do you think I am?

Sav: I'm gonna just take the dinner jacket, stick with the black linen shirt and pants, go vamp. My new flatmate will be at the party, and she'll be coming down to Sing next day. Hey, I can give her the jacket to bring back! Cheaper than fed-ex! Good thinking!

Dick: maybe still not enough distance yet... The hotel I am staying at in Patong was totally wiped out in 2004 - 30 people died there.

Dick: the tsunami will play a pivotal role in the E@L book, the one that continues to take shape... (the one that'll probably never get written).

I have a new pivotal plot development set in HK too... Turns out I knew the guy who screwed everyone over in The Groovy Mule fiasco in Wanchai. Actaully I think most HK expats know him, particularly the ones he burned, and as they know this story better than me, I'll be doing some research this week. Great story, great potiential for libel suits, fantastic!

Still haven't managed to tie the Bali bombing, the red algae plague and Bird flu into synopsis #234 yet, but it's coming! Everything else is in there!

Good tsunami sequence in Iain Banks latest ..."The Steep Approach to Garbadale."

Groovy Mule? Sounds like a post we need to read!

If you have not had sex in a while and leave Phuket unsexed-you only have your self to blame.
