Tale Of Three Cities

Things are relative, as my uncle used to say.

A while ago, coincidentally, two people I know separately moved to Bangkok. One came from Manila, the other from Hong Kong. Both are in the hotel business, btw.

The one who came from Manila was amazed. "You can organize things so smoothly here. It all seems to just happen!"*

The one from Hong Kong was amazed, but for quite the opposite reason. " You canít get anything organized here! You ask for something to be done and nothing happens!"

What does this tell you about the relative logistical ease of living in Manila and Hong Kong?

*Things may not be so rosy after 6-9 months. A process known as acclimatization, the frog in the saucepan phenomenon.
