I'm Back: Taxis Have Gone

Rainstorm this morning in Singapore between 6:30 and 8am: means at 8:30 I cannot get a fucking taxi to take me to an appointment at the NUH... Not only can I not get on to the automated booking system, I cannot even on to the service attendant to book one manually, as I keep getting a "network busy" message on the phone - not just a busy signal but a network busy signal... Even the phone system can't handle the taxis here...

Something is seriously wrong with this...

Update: I got on to service attendant for SMRT after 30 minutes: she took my booking details but no taxi picked up the option after 10 minutes on hold. She is going to call me back in 5...

Update 2: she never got back to me. 10 minutes later I have managed to get onto "another" taxi service, and a car will be arriving in 12 minutes! I've been after a taxi now for 45 minutes...

By "another", I mean another phone number to different cab service with ostensibly a different owner, but we all know who actually owns all the owners in this town...

Dude, I'll give you numbers of taxi drivers I use sometimes, if you like. Reliable guys who actually know what shifting gears means...
