Great Weekend!

We all've had a ball - jacuzzi party at Cafe Del Mar as the sun set on Sentosa on Saturday, high brunch at the The Ritz-Carlton this afternoon, beers at The Gutter this evening, in the pool tonight until we got kicked out...

Thanks to everyone! I love yers all...

Live long and prosperificate, dudes. Rest assured that I am older but no wiser.

I cannot rest from travel; I will drink
Life to the lees. All times I have enjoy'd
Greatly, have suffer'd greatly, both with those
That loved me, and alone; on shore, and when
Thro' scudding drifts the rainy Hyades
Vext the dim sea. I am become a name;
For always roaming with a hungry heart
Much have I seen and known,-- cities of men
And manners, climates, councils, governments,
Myself not least, but honor'd of them all,--
And drunk delight of battle with my peers,
Far on the ringing plains of windy Troy.
I am a part of all that I have met;
Yet all experience is an arch wherethro'
Gleams that untravell'd world whose margin fades
For ever and for ever when I move.
How dull it is to pause, to make an end,
To rust unburnish'd, not to shine in use!

Come, my friends.
'T is not too late to seek a newer world.
Push off, and sitting well in order smite
The sounding furrows; for my purpose holds
To sail beyond the sunset, and the baths
Of all the western stars, until I die.
It may be that the gulfs will wash us down;
It may be we shall touch the Happy Isles,
And see the great Achilles, whom we knew.
Tho' much is taken, much abides; and tho'
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are,--
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

Thanks Sav! My hands are shaking after the marathon party, but now, even as others more fortunate go in search of a cleansing game of golf, I must off to work, yo!

Lots of people were taking photos - how many will get to me for posting I don't know.

Thanks for a lovely party. Husb and I had a fantastic time. Cafe del Mar is really too cool for school

I think I might have yielded. Or maybe I'm rusting unburnish'd. Not sure. Could be just another hangover.

HD2 - see you Wednesday for chili crab?? - let's do it again and again and again and again...

Dick: History's slowly simmering rubbish heaps are are being picked over for burnished yeilders who had drunk too much delight in battle with the peerless, made weak for thyme and freight wait for no man, and those who should just push off, they remain apart from all they have met... Except brave Achilles, who I met once at a pub in Vancouver.

Well maybe it's time for you to have a rest from vexing travel. I'll just push off and smite
a few sounding furrows.

Posted by: Dick on Jul 03, 07 | 3:18 am

Maybe it wasn't Achilles we met, but Odysseus himself, escaping the leaden winter...

Posted by: expat@large on Jul 03, 07 | 9:54 am

Maybe it was those two ladies roaming with hungry hearts?

Posted by: Dick on Jul 03, 07 | 10:50 am

You're not saying those hungry furrows belong to Nyum and Nok?

Posted by: expat@large on Jul 03, 07 | 11:28 am

there's backstory there, right? damn, i came too late to this blog thing, sugar...i've missed so much!

Posted by: savannah on Jul 03, 07 | 12:03 pm

Expat throws great parties. Photos coming, but no promises about quality.

Sav: yes historico-literary-bloggo professors will delve into that interchange for decades to come.

HD2: Excellent

Knobby: ditto

Posted by: savannah on Jul 03, 07 | 8:56 pm

VPS: it would seem so.

Sav, remember this?

George McFly: Lorraine, my density has bought me to you.
Lorraine Baines: What?
George McFly: Oh, what I meant to say was...
Lorraine Baines: Wait a minute, don't I know you from somewhere?
George McFly: Yes. Yes. I'm George, George McFly. I'm your density. I mean... your destiny.

Crispin Glover to Lea Thompson in Back To The Future. Old joke.

Sav, please don't encourage her; she get's too much fawning praise already...
