Brilliant, he says anonymously...

Fuck, I'm good! I can't undestand for the life of me why I have not been inundated with a squillion books offers from all the major publishers. [Maybe something to do with never having written any unified coherent piece in a single tone of voice of over 2000 words? N'ehmind, NaNaWriMo is coming up only 6 months! 3rd time lucky!]

But ya gotta admit! That last post was sublime! Deep, ambiguous, clever, written whilst 75% drunk...

Oops, it seems I HAVE been changed! -- into a self-promoting wanker! OK, an even BIGGER SPW.

Now however, it's off to the small, dumbell-shaped, shaded by 11am pool here in my BKK hotel to finish up on the Kafka novel. BTW, hands up those who knew that despite the myths, Franz Kafka died happy and in love? OK, maybe not happy about the pain, weakness, hunger (he couldn't swallow and died of the resultant starvation) and being mute and frustrated, but happy in love - with his nurse apparently... [OK, enough with the digressions!]

Why am I still in BKK, you ask? The anticipated weekend in Pattaya (for work!) dissolved into a cloud of "maybe next week, maybe next month"... Also the trip to somewhere near Surat Thani was cancelled -- thank um, Christ, now that there is even more trouble down south!

I still have a voyage on Wednesday to Khon Khaen in north Isaan that has not (yet) been postponed. Otherwise I'll just be doing the rounds of customers again in BKK.

Last week I had to give a presentation to 30 or so Docs from the group that earlier bought 16 of our systems. They had complaints about the DVD-RAM player the distributor gave them. It is a TEAC DV800, which behaves differently from other conventional DVD recorders. It records MPG-4 DV, in ASF format, rather than MPG-2 - the typical DVD format. It therefore bypasses all copying issues and behaves as a data-disk while still performing as a VCR replacement. You can read and copy the files onto a PC no probelms - clips run in WMP and Powerpoint without having to resort to difficult and probably illegal ways of overcoming the inbuilt DRM restricitons of the DVD format to convert the clips. However, DVD-RAM does not play in your common and/or garden home DVD player! Which is what they still think they want, despite my desperate entreaties for them to see the light! [And save our distributor thousands of $s in replacement costs.]

I have detailed files on this issue, which will may be the topic of a future seriously geek whinge rant.

Meanwhile, as Thailand closes down its etherial connections with the outside world, and Hong Kong jails people for merely linking to mild-porn web-sites, I'll try sending out one more message in these troubled and troubling times, the Last Days Of The Internet...

The Electronic Rapture is coming! Repent! Either that or find a proxy-server!

[Mmm. What's this file called Anonymizer doing on my hard-disk??]

Wonderful to see you brimming with self-confidence. Quick, write a novel while it lasts.

It's something I heard about in a movie:

The Vessel with Vigara has the Pellet with the Poison, the Chalice with Cialis has the Brew that is True!
