I mentioned about 2 years ago about some second hand information I had received about Sony's highly funded and advanced R&D research into planned and inbuilt obsolescence. The largest part of Sony's R&D budget goes not into making sure your product is as good as it can be, but rather to make sure that that irreplacible, indispensable minor little plastic widget that holds everything together in your expensive Sony product falls off EXACTLY one month after the warranty has expired, just as all the internal connections burn out and the LCD goes blank...
My Dopod PDA phone (not Sony) has playing up at a similarly critical post-"life-time"-warranty point, the screen refusing to respond, the audio going into mute by itself... Not to mention the crappy photographs it has always taken (see evidence on previous post).
One of the guys from my Japanese company was listening to me whinge about this and said two words:
"What did you say?" I asked, not quite hearing.
"We call it Sony time in Japan. Just after end of warranty, the product stops working and you must buy a new one. It is well known in Japan for Sony product."
Mmm. Others have questioned Sony.
E@L calls it right again. The world IS a piece of shit...
Of course not EVERY Japanese company does that with their products, do we boss?
OTHER MONKEYS SAID
this is slightly off topic, but i hate sony. their stuff is so popietary it doesn't work with any other stuff from other brands. i used to own a cybershot and that sucked. ok, i'll shuddup now.
Sony products ARE crap... They're also the ones who were caught out putting potentially malicious code onto your computer if you used one of their DRM CDs, the fuckers.
Sony SUCK -- End of story.
Viacom suck for suing Google
wow, how do ya'll REALLY feel about sony? *blink*
Ambivalent... Not sure I hate them or hate them a LOT!
