OK, so no, I'm not all that unique. Only moderately. Mostly.
Nicholson Baker. Born in 1957, a great year for people. The first book came as a Christmas present. Now I have to read them all. Very ultra-detailed, nit-picky without being annoying, funny stuff. Reminds me of Robert Walser's highly detailed stories of nothing much at all, but funny...
Mezzanine starts with a footnote riff on how plastic straws float out of drink cans for example. He also riffs on things like the perforations in toilet paper asking if the inventor won a prize, which sounds dreadfully familiar to me...
And of course....
"A disorder in which strongly felt ethical and altrusitic impulses are perpetually warring with extreme sexual longins."
We are not alone.
OTHER MONKEYS SAID

Gonna pick up Absurdistan today, fret not...
"writing"? wot's that?
And shit, my early posts were good... I laugh and laugh. Am crying. They just get older as they get better, or is it the other way around? Everyone should read my stuff from the beginning of this blog (version 3 - much old irreplacable stuff lost due to lycos.com being total bastards)... then send me money.
